A post office worker from New Jersey has been arrested and charged for using her job as a means of smuggling cocaine from Puerto Rico into the country.
She used her post worker privilege to send the packages to unoccupied homes.
Amanda Cruz who is 22-years-old was arrested and booked with first degree narcotics violations.
Prosecutors stated that Amanda was a new hire at a Short Hills, N. J., post office in June 2016 when she stuck up a drug smuggling arrangement.
The Newark resident will look for addresses whose residents had stopped mail deliveries while they were on vacation. Officials said:
“She figured out who put their mail on hold. She was having drugs sent to those addresses, and a third party would make the pick up.”
