Aged Woman ‘Gutsy Ethlin Thompson’ Forgives Suspects, Who Killed Her Husband In Invasion

A 100-year-old woman who was the victim of a home invasion has already forgiven the suspects involved, despite the fact that she lost her husband of 30 years in the invasion.

Gutsy Ethlin Thompson and her 91-year-old husband, Waldiman Thompson, were both bound and had blankets thrown over their heads when home invaders struck. Thompson was able to get free and go for help, but unfortunately, her husband was not able to get free and later died in the hospital after being found unconscious with his face pressed into a pillow.
The medical examiner’s office ruled the cause of death to be a sudden cardiac arrest resulting from the invasion “with robbery and restraint in a person with hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.”
To make matters worse, it is currently unclear whether Thompson is aware that police consider her nephew to be a person of interest in the case. Sources said that the nephew recently showed up out of the blue despite not having been around often.
Police suspected that the home invasion was orchestrated by someone close to the couple, because the suspects “knew where to look” and took exactly what they wanted, $5,000 cash, before leaving Thompson’s husband for dead.
Still, Thompson has been leaning on her Christian faith to get her through this trying time.

“She said that she forgives the people that did this,” said Thompson’s great niece, Dorene Hunter. “I kissed her hand. I told her I love her. I didn’t talk about the situation.”

However, the grieving widow has yet to come to terms with the loss of her husband.

“She’s still in total denial about her husband,” a police source said. “She keeps asking for him.”
