In 2017, Kevin Brophy sued Cardi B  over the appearance of his back tattoo on the cover of the Cardi B’s 2016 debut mixtape, Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1.

According to Kevin Brophy, she used the image without his consent and “misappropriated the unique likeness of [his] body art and image[…] in a misleading, offensive, humiliating and provocatively sexual way to launch her career in music and entertainment.” He went ahead to ask for $5 million in damages.

Cardi B and her lawyers responded and rubbished his claim that she used image to launch her career, according to her and lawyers “The suggestion that any of Cardi B’s success, or income, in any way arose from or is attributable to the use of the tattoo image in that early photo is simply ludicrous.”

Cardi B also mentioned that it was not Kevin Brophy’s back on her cover, but another man (who she didn’t mention lol)

The jury sided with her today in the copyright infringement case and both parties shook hands in court.
