Donald Trump made news over the weekend when he attacked NFL stars for following Colin Kaepernick‘s lead and protesting the national anthem and then threw shade at the NBA after Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors declined his invitation to the White House (a longstanding tradition for championship-winning teams).
Given his presidency thus far, the actions were not surprising in the least, but it has reinvigorated support for Kaepernick’s longstanding protest.
Celebrities of all kinds are speaking out against Trump’s latest attack against the First Amendment, sports and Black people.
Trump tweets:
If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL,or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect….

…our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU'RE FIRED. Find something else to do!

He's not declaring war on NFL and NBA. Owners are his donors. He's declaring way against black people with opinions. https://t.co/lnEIKs1e9I

If the ratings down, Trump will use it. In solidarity with #TakeTheKnee and the NFL, let's watch as much football as humanly possible. ?
