Chance The Rapper has just hit a legal suit for an alleged copyright infringement.
According to Billboard, New-York based jazz musician Abdul Wali Muhammad—formerly known as Eric P. Saunders—sued the rapper for copyright infringement on Tuesday (Sept. 12).
Muhammad is suing Chance over “Windows,” which is a song he dropped on his first mixtape, titled 10 Day, back in 2012.
Tho song does appear to contain a sample of Lonnie Liston Smith’s 1980 song “Bridge Through Time.” Apparently, Muhammad filed a separate copyright claim for Smith’s song the year before in 1979.
Muhammad, who claims he reached out to the Chance team.
