Marcus Sakers, a 32-year old man from Miami, was arrested on Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of his 60 year old father, Fedel Peake, during an altercation on Father’s Day. Marcus now faces a charge of second-degree murder.
According to an arrest affidavit, Eyewitnesses said Sakers and his 60-year old father, Fedel Peake, got into an argument that turned into a physical fight wherein they both men fell to the ground during the fight. Some witnesses tried to intervene when they heard several gunshots.
Peake rolled over after being shot and said, “You shot me” before losing consciousness, police said. The victim was rushed to the Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Marcus Sakers, who fled after the shooting, was found the next day outside a home on Northwest Second Avenue. Sakers was positively identified as the shooter by the eyewitnesses.
He is now being held without bond into jail. Moreover, court records at Miami-Dade County show that Saker’s father filed a restraining order against his son back in 2014.
