An Ohio teacher lost her job last week after a co-worker snapped a photo of her dragging a student down the hallway.
In the photo, the woman can be seen holding the young student by the arm, as the student’s body dragged along the hall floor.
According to CNN, the teacher worked with children at the Youngstown school in the Mahoning County Head Start program, hired by a non-profit that works with the program.
On Wednesday, the CEO of the non-profit, Alta Head Start, released a statement to reiterate the values of the organization.
“I want to make sure it is clear that the individual who was terminated does not reflect the values of the dedicated and skilled professionals at Alta Head Start,” Joe Shorokey said.
“These fine teachers and aides should not be unfairly portrayed as anything less because of the person who was terminated.” he continued.
“We took the matter very seriously,” Shorokey said. “We took action immediately we apologized to the parents, as well as to the community.”
Neither the teacher nor the student have been identified, the student is said to be between the ages of 3 and 5.
