Yesterday, a noose was discovered by tourists visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture in an exhibition on segregation making it the second time in a week that this would be happening. The police are treating this event as a racist event, the Park police came to investigate, closed the exhibit gallery for three hours and removed the noose.
In a statement to its staff, the Director of the museum , Lonnie Bunch stated that
The noose has long represented a deplorable act of cowardice and depravity—a symbol of extreme violence for African Americans. Today’s incident is a painful reminder of the challenges that African Americans continue to face
