The Washingtonian reports that Gentry and Geiger opened a restaurant/pop-up shop Monday (May 22) with a menu of cocktails in honor of black entertainers such as Dave Chapelle, Taraji P Henson and Bill Cosby. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Geiger originally showcased the “Pill Cosby”-which literally comes with empty pill capsules on top- via Twitter but quickly deleted it after it sent people into an uproar. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

After coming to the conclusion that the drink was a bad idea from the start, the two men removed the drink option from their menu. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“The drink has since been removed from the menu and we apologize to anyone who felt offended by this,” a statement from the restaurant’s Twitter page reads. “This drink was not made with any intent to offend anyone, especially not victims of rape. We take full responsibility.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Despite their attempt to stop the madness, the backlash continued and even caused some people to come to their defense. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
