CNN reports that the Trump administration is looking to end former First Lady Michelle Obama’s girls education program.
The program called “Let Girls Learn,” was founded in 2015 as an initiative to provide girls in developing nations with access to education.
The acting director of the Peace Corps, Sheila Crowley stated in an email to employees that:
“Moving forward, we will not continue to use the Let Girls Learnbrand or maintain a standalong program.”
The former First lady’s ex-chief of staff, Tina Tchen, said it’s “unfortunate” that the program will not be continuing past the Obama administration.
“We think that this is an issue that has bipartisan support, it’s really not a Republican or Democratic issue. “
