A Miami Beach officer shot a female driver after she allegedly ran over another officer.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6:15pm,on Sunday, when the driver in a black BMW reportedly struck two or three other vehicles from Ocean Drive to Washington Avenue on 12th Street. Shortly after officers surrounded her car and confronted her on Washington and 12th.
A witness at the scene said, “She started the car and ran away. She was, like, going over the policeman in front of her, the officer.”
Another one of the officers then opened fire on the BMW.
The witness added, “At that point, the other cop started shooting. I heard like shots, like four or five shots, like ‘pow, pow, pow, pow!’ And then the car lost control.”
The BMW reportedly crashed into a white SUV in the middle of Washington and 12th. Police confirmed that a male was inside of the vehicle with the female driver, but their relationship was not made clear.
The officer that was struck by the vehicle was taken to Ryder Trauma Center conscious and talking.

Police have not identified the female driver but said she was in her twenties. A police shooting investigation will be conducted.
