Virgil Abloh, the Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton menswear collection and an American designer, entrepreneur, and DJ just passed today, Sunday after battling a rare form of cancer for 2 years. He was 41 years when he died of cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects the heart
In March 2018, Virgil Abloh was named the artistic director of the Louis Vuitton menswear after running his own brand Off-White since 2012. Virgil was the first person of African descent to get that role and also one of the few black men heading a French fashion house.
Before working with LVMH, Virgil Abloh was running his Off-White brand which he had done since 2012 and has had major fashion collaboration with top global fashion brands. LVMH had just acquired 60% of his Off-White brand July 2021 and he was currently on a $10 million/year base salary with LVMH.
As at the time of death, he was worth $100 million and he is currently survived by his wife Shannon Abloh, his kids, Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh and his Ghanian immigrant parents, Nee & Eunice Abloh.
